Chronic Kidney Disease

An estimated 4 million Canadians live with kidney disease; many don't know it yet.

On this page you will find current research studies for chronic kidney disease, plain-language information about the condition, and a short questionnaire to see whether you may qualify for a study near you. Participation is always voluntary, free, and guided by a physician.

Common questions

Is it safe to take part in a clinical study?

Every study on this site is reviewed and approved by an independent Research Ethics Board before it can begin, and is run by licensed Canadian physicians. Your safety is monitored throughout, and you may withdraw at any time.

Will it cost me anything?

No. Study-related care, visits and investigational medication are provided at no cost. Many studies also reimburse reasonable travel expenses.

Do I need a doctor's referral?

No referral is needed. Complete a short questionnaire and a research team member will contact you to discuss eligibility.
